Articles

I've been a full-time freelance writer since 1990, specializing in health, medicine, technology, politics and pop culture. My clients have included Looking Up: The International Autism Newsletter, The MAAP, Halftheplanet.com, ComputerLife, The Net, LAN Times, C|Net, MacUser, MacWEEK, Multimedia Producer, New Media, Covert Action Quarterly, Parenting, and Wired, among others.

Here are some clips:

After the Diagnosis: Ten Things Parents Need to Do When Facing Autistic Spectrum Disorders (First Signs, May 2001)

Anarchy in the UK: 10 Days With the London Mob (PDXS, November1994)

Policing Activists: Think Global, Spy Local (Covert Action Quarterly, summer 1997)

Oregonian to Freelancers: Drop Dead! (PDXS, March 1997)

(NetworkWorld, April 1998)

Editing

I have also worked as a freelance editor for many clients, including O'Reilly & Associates, Macmillan, and QUE.

My most recent project, Webster's New World Dictionary of Medical Terms, required heavy developmental editing as well as original research and writing. Starting with content derived from MedicineNet.com's online medical dictionary, I developed a very thorough, very up-to-date new medical dictionary. It was published in spring 2000.
Other editing projects have included The Java Manual of Style, Web Site Essentials (both for Ziff-Davis,) and Excel '97 SuperSources (Que.)

Education

I am currently working toward my Ph.D. at the University of Sunderland.
I received a BA in Journalism (first, with honours) from San Francisco State University in 1988.
